This site was born out of lifelong love for words.
I am a collector of stories. A daydreamer. A hoarder of unusual words, like ‘diphthong’, ‘scurryfunge’ and ‘tsundoku’.
For as long as I can remember, I have been immersed in stories; whether it was making up my own even before I had learnt how to write them down, or reading them late into the night with a torch underneath the covers. Poetry or prose, it mattered not, as long as I could soak up all that storytelling.
Writer by Design
By day, I am an art-directing writer. With qualifications in both journalism and design, my career has seen me ply my trade as a writer, art director and designer in publishing, advertising and graphic design. By night, I keep writing. And attempting to read every book on the planet. I turn those night-owl words of either my own or my favourite books into hand-lettered artworks.
Heartfelt and Handcrafted
My love for the ‘wabi sabi’ philosophy comes through in my artwork. It’s a Japanese aesthetic meaning beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. I love seeing unique ink marks, elements and non-uniformed letters in all that I create.
Fable and Fizz would like to acknowledge the Whadjuck Noongar people as the traditional owners and continual custodians on the lands and waters this content is primarily written on. I pay respects to their Elders — past and present. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
